Since learning the game just seven years ago, Karl Voglmayr has achieved impressive tennis ratings for an amateur player. The National Tennis Rating Program rates Karl Voglmayr as a 4.5 level player, marking him as an elite athlete. During games, Karl Voglmayr demonstrates his abilities with impressive serving and volleying, as well as aggressive net play. Karl Voglmayr controls his spins, pace, footwork, and racquet handling with skill well beyond his years in the game. Karl Voglmayr plays competitive matches at Carter Barron Tennis Center and St. Albans Tennis Club. Karl Voglmayr belongs to Carter Barron during the winter and spring seasons, and St. Albans year round. Karl Voglmayr displays his natural athletic ability in other recreational activities. Since the age of six, Karl Voglmayr has skied every winter, and has enjoyed the slopes in South America, North America, Australia, and Europe. While attending Clark University for his undergraduate degree, Karl Voglmayr played lacrosse as a defensive stopper. Karl Voglmayr joined the intramural basketball team, the Festering Sores, and the intramural softball team, Nine Guys Named Murray, as well. A seasoned world traveler, Karl Voglmayr takes time to enjoy the unique cultural offerings found in each country he visits. Karl Voglmayr has been to South Africa, Costa Rica, Mexico, Switzerland, Germany, Liechtenstein, Portugal, England, and Fiji, as well as his motherland, Australia, and fatherland, Austria. French cuisine inspired Karl Voglmayr to take French cooking classes stateside. His wine experiences in France, Chile, Italy, and Spain inspired Karl Voglmayr to bottle several varietals under his own label. Karl Voglmayr eventually founded The Vineyard at Fishing Creek, where he grows 200 plants and produces 100 gallons of wine each year. Under the Voglmayr Family Wine brand, Karl Voglmayr bottles a blend, Cabernet Franc, and a Cabernet Sauvignon.
